Heres the problem, drove my 2001 F150 5.4 liter V8 to pick up some tile for the house. the place loaded the tile with a fork lift and placed the tile in the truck, the truck swayed a little bit but when I got in to drive the truck away the gear shifter would not get out of park. Then engine was running and they lifted the tile with the fork lift and I was able to shift the truck into drive. got home unloaded the tile and now I cannot get the truck out of park again. when the truck was in gear to was fine driving and easy to shift. When in park I cannot get it out of park. Any help will be appreacaited

The gear shift lever and linkage are out of adjustment or the parking pawl is damaged. The brake light switch may not be working. The ignition switch interlock may not be working. If it is parked on a hill in Park the pawl may have a load on it preventing it from releasing. Rock the truck while trying to get it out of park. Check if the brake lights work. If they do go to the next step. Jack up the rear end or bounce the rear end up and down while trying to get it out of park. All that weight in the bed must have thrown the linkage out of adjustment.
