LS1 swap in my '93

a my buddy Tony knows some one selling a LS1 with wiring harness and ECM.
i know that this will be a very involved swap
some of the benifits of doing it succesfully will be more power (obvisously), more i can do to the car, less weight in the front end to throw into curves, and best of all more MPGs
i know a higher pressure/volume fuel pump will be needed
if any one else has any ideas on this let me know
i also need advice on suspension upgrades, suspension/chassis tuning, brake system recomendations , and any thing any one else can come up with
thanx a million,

i was thinking about going with the suspension from a 9C1 and a thicker 3500 lbs flex rate anti sway bar for the front, and a 2800 lbs bar for the back, coupled with a heavier set of springs all around and some firm shock absorbers, i know i'd sacrifice some ride quality, but i'd rather my car ride like a truck than feel like i'm about to flip going into a turn moving any faster than the speed of glacier.
any one know of a cost effective convential steering to rack and pinion convertion? i'd get so much more relibility and road feel from a rack and pinion system.
any reccomendations for the rear suspension set up, the LS1 isn't going to remain stock, i'm looking at about 420-450 wheel hp and would like to get rid of as much wheel hop as i can and be able to plant all that power to the ground. i may go with a ladder bar set up, i'm not going to the point of where i'll need a 4 link set up. i probably should invest in a panhard rod to keep every thing centered
for the rear end, its a code G80 limited slip and at 210,000 miles it still works
my trans is the 4L80E so i'm going to keep it, rebuild it and do some internal work, shift kit, higher volume pump ect.
exhaust, i all ready know what i'm doing with that. a set of headers made for the LS1 (hope fully some company makes them) with 3.5" collectors going into 3 inches back to the 2 cats. (one for each side) 3" out of the cats into a 3" "X" pipe. this will help with exhaust gas scavenging and give me a place to connect the post cat. O2 sensor. out form that, 3" back to Flowmaster 3" dual offset 50 series. every one and their mother runs 40 and 44 series mufflers, hence the reason i'm going for 50s.
rear end, even though i have working limited slip in my car, its old and tired and with that much power going to the wheels, the limited slip wouldn't hold up for very long. i have the uncanny feeling of me trying to learn how to launch the car and getting horrible traction. the culprit, i killed the limited slip unit finally. one tire fire from here out. thats why i'm going with a Detriot Helical Gear diff. limited slip with out having to worry if i destroyed the clutches yet.
no clutches, all gears
and my buddy own an auto shop so i buy the parts i have a place and all the tools to get it all done, and done correctly
another buddy runs his mouth about how my car is a slug and even built up i won't be as fast as his corvette. its an '85 its one of the slowest years in history. he agreed to race me title for title. i don't want his 'vette, i just want to wipe the smirk off of his face when he sees my tail lights disappearing from in front of him.
thats not the reason i'm building my car. i love the "bubble" style caprices (especially the '93 up with out the hidieous rear fender flares) and now that i have one i'm going to build the way I WANT IT TO BE, i'm not taking any one elses ideas (suggestions are diffrent and info. on better ways about going through with my plans, thats a diffrent subject i'll take those all day) like those " you need to get a gorilla lift on dis whipp and put some thirty foe inch reems on dis whipp and and put some subs in da trunk of dis whipp" i don't care about that i'm building my car for speed not some unproportionate stupid looking thing that doesn't stop, handle or ride for the life of it just so i can have a "status symbol of how much better i am that you"
i vomited when i saw a capirce with 40" rims on it it was disgusting, and they use a chain in case any of the suspension components fail to feep it falling apart and destroying anyting behind it.
wow that sounds like a real great idea. sorry for the rant. i honestly can't stand the people who do that to their cars, its not the car its the person
and they need a labotomy

i can see putting 20 in rimz on but any bigger and you need help the 20's will give you nice handleing hell even 18 in rimz will but any bigger and you need help. as for a rack and pinion i would look into a camaro rack and it will probably take a bit of fab work but you prob can get it in. or even one from a vette. as for the rear i dont have a clue but i would lookinto something from a vette, or camaro since they are designed for speed, or just change out your gears if the housing is in good shape.

Settle down a little.
The stock style rear suspension will work just fine, would say new lower arms are necessary uppers I am getting away with stock yet and am making something around the power you are looking for only mine has torque that your LS wont.
The 9C1 springs and super stiff swaybars is a poor plan especially with a lighter LS motor up front. The Impala springs would be a better choice or you could just go full hotchkis springs and bars, is a nice setup.
An Impala or 9C1 steering box is a quicker ratio, might be the best combination of feel and price you are going to find, I am not aware of any manual systems readily available.
Mine makes somewhere around 400 to the wheels through 2.5" exhaust with 1 5/8 midlength headers, making some chages and plan to be in the range you specified.
Not my fastest run but one of my favorite videos of the ugly beast.

This is a mild 3400 stall and 3.73s, I will post updates as needed.
Point being I have been there done that far as making the car ready for this power, no need for you to reinvent any of that. Mine is just a stock shortblock LT1 and very driveable. The 4L60E can handle what you want, no need to use a 4L80 but if you have it might as well.
