Dual alternators - one battery

Simply put.... can it be done? These are two different alternators here. One is an AD244 alt and the other is a CS130D alternator with a 160amp stator put in.

The AD244 puts out roughly 100 amps at idle speeds, while the CS130D only puts out a mere 40 amps. So I figure if I can get them both up and running, then I can have low end power, as well as high end power. ~140 amps (14.4v) at idle, and ~300 amps at full tilt..... all with ONE Optima Yellow Top.

Does anyone see any problems with this setup? Can it be done?

It's going on a '99 S10, 4.3L.

Thanks in advance.

I see plenty of people using multiple alts, so I assume it's possible. The situation with the CS130D is normal, HO alts generally have poor output at idle.

Right.... that's why I'd use both alternators. The AD244 is out of a suburban and will put out 200 amps cold, 145 when warm, and 100 at idle, with 14.4v.

The built CS130D doesn't put out shit at idle, but it'll do 160amps at full tilt. That's why I'd use both alternators to get the "best of both worlds". Good amperage/voltage at idle AND at full tilt.

I only want to use one battery though, and Optima Yellow Top, which I already have.
