What our local weatherman said on last night's news, we are about to experience a "once in a 15 year occurrence" of a snowstorm with possible accumulations over a foot. Coming from an area that can see anywheres from 150 to 200 inches of snow a season, one would think we should be used to it. But in this case psychologically we're not just ready yet . Temps were in the 70s last week as we experienced Indian Summer, and I still need to mow my lawn at least one more time. Now they're telling us to get the snow shovels and snowbrushes ready. It seems as if we just left winter and had an abbreviated summer, and now we are thrown back to the cold weather. It seems as you get older, summer just doesn't last as long as it did when you were younger. Any one else in the path of this Nor'easter expected to hit the East Coast/New England today and tomorrow?

We already had our first snowstorm about 2 weeks ago. Great big flakes. It was great to watch but yeah, I wasn't ready for it either. It accumulated about 1" is all, and it melted quick. Hopefully you won't even have to shovel this storm and it will be warm enough to just melt it all away.

It must be so amazing to see when it snows, and to actually experience the flakes fall. Here we just receive lots of rain and lots of wind!

snow sucks. snow should be restricted to mountains only for snowboarding and skiing and should only occur otherwise on Xmas, New years and maybe a little on thanksgiving. I fuckin' hate living in NY in the winter.

Wow, that thing is really wrapping up.

It IS almost November, but October storms with large snowfalls are rare -- and having 70's last week makes it all the worse.

You guys are giving snow a bad name. Yes it gets colder, so bundle up and take it easy on the roads! You have to all admit there are a lot of things about snow that are a lot of fun! I always loved watching the lake effect snow winding up when I lived in Cleveland!

Southwestern NY State, we're being told about 2 - 4" so we're on the very fringe of that storm. But it is windier the hell outside right now, driving the 35 - 40 degree temperature down quite a bit with wind chill.

I'd kill for some snow! It's been between 22 and 30 degrees Centigrade for the past few weeks in Sydney.

Supposed to get a couple of inches here tonight/tomorrow, and higher elevations 8-14 inches. Too bad the ground isn't frozen, it would make my drive to chicago at the end of the week a little more scenic.

England is like 5 Celsius at night and I'm too cheap to turn on the heating. I'm fucking freezing. I miss Florida.

We already had out first snow of the year. :shakehead

However, it warmed right back up after that and has been that way since. I don't see it lasting much longer. We didn't even really get a spring and fall has been short.

I'm not looking forward to winter at all.

One thing that makes it worse is that we are just "past peak" in fall foliage color, ( a spectacular year for color due to weather conditions -warm days , cool nights, some say the best in years)there is still quite a bit of leaves on the trees. This snow that is falling is heavy and wet, tending to stick to everything. While it makes for great pictures, it also does a lot of damage to the trees, bringing down limbs, power lines, etc, similar to an ice storm. I remember a few years ago, Albany got hit with an October snowstorm that did a lot of damage, and Buffalo got hit in 2006 with one that also caused millions of dollars in damage and took weeks to get everything back to normal. Hopefully it won't be so bad this time, but they are warning us of a possibility for widespread power outages.

Got our second snowstorm last night. Supposed to have some "lake effect" snow today - could get up to 6 inches on the lower mountain areas. It is now cold. With the election came winter. :) I hate not being able to drive my car (it sucks in the snow). Guess it's time to put it away and get out the AWD. :(
