while doing a clutch job on my grand am, i inadvertantly seperated the bearing from the slave cylinder, mine is internal. later i noticed the directions warned of not seperating them. i n ow cannot get any pressure and wandered if i have ruined the slave cylinder.

can you bleed it? I have done a few clutches but not on this car, and you cannot have air in the line.

was it working before you did this? if so looks like your going to have to refix slave cyl.

everything worked before i started, just the clutch disc was worn out. so when the bearing seperated it ruined the cylinder?

ok first did you put new presure plate on also and did you have fly wheel turned? so if you got all air out when bleeding and still no pedal i'd have to say yes you will have to put new one in i don't think it would be the clutch master cyl. but if you never put new presure plate on it may have a finger broke on plate or real weak..

I installed a complete kit, clutch disc, pressure plate , slave cylnder with throw out bearing. i did not have the fly wheel turned. i did bleed all the air out of the system as well. i have absolutely no pedal and you cannot pump it up.

Welcome to AF ta4168 !!

Sounds like the cylinder is bad.
Since you replaced the enitre clutch assembly wouldnt hurt to replace it.
You can rebuild the old one pretty cheap.
Here is a link that kinda shows how to rebuild one though not a GA but simular.

this is an internal slave cylinder, the bearing and cylinder are combined. i changed the slave cylinder the only problem is i removed the plactic clips that hold them together. i am trying to figure out if the fact that i seperated the bearing from the cylinder would ruin it and why, as i do not have pedal after i changed everything

If you didnt break anything then the cylinder should work. Is fluid running out when you pump it ??

But you probly broke the seal that maintained the pressure.

doesnt leak just doesnt build pressure. you know any way to fix it? or am i going to have to pull the tranny out again and replace it?

Unfortunately you are going to have to pull it.

Though I would triple check that fluid is moving thru the lines, no clogs, and that everything else is working properly before you pull it.
