Hi to everyone and thanks to the moderators for the Happy Birthday wish earlier this month.(via e-mail)
I stopped on a steep incline today in a driveway, set the parking brake, and put the car in park. Returned in about an hour and the engine would not start. It turned over normally but did not even attempt to fire and run. I took it to the bottom of the driveway, which is level and same result. I pulled the engine cover and removed the cap on the fuel rail, pushed in the valve and got just a slight hiss. While someone turned the engine over, I pressed the valve in and no gas, no hiss that I could tell so I am assuming fuel pump. It was replaced last year with one from Advance Auto, almost exactly one year but not quite. When I first turn the key on it sounds like the pump runs for a few seconds and stops. I know it has gas in the tank and I slid the hose slightly off the fuel filter and there was gas there. Filter was replaced when pump was. Is this going to be a fuel pump or is there something I am overlooking? TIA

Nevermind guys, it was the fuel pump. The pump installed a year ago was a "Masters" from Advance Auto. Just more craptastic parts from the usuals. The crimped hose had come off one end of the pump assembly so the pump was working but no fuel was flowing. New pump and all is well again. I bought this car new and it now has 190,000 miles on it. It still looks, runs, and drives like new. I'm going to keep it till the engine or trans goes and I have run Mobil 1 since new and changed the filter and fluid in the trans every 2 years. I'd like to set a record on milage with this one. Knock on wood.

Welcome to AF, and good luck with the longevity goals GSguy.
Those Master pumps are complete garbage, so you were smart to get rid of it. I don't want to hex you, but I hope the replacement wasn't an Airtex either, as they are just as big of a pile.
