shift kit, installation?

iam thinkin about gettin a B&M shift improver kit for my 2000 chevy 1500, i had one in my 87 blazer and loved the hard shifts it had, i was wondering if this is a do it ur self deal or if i should take it to a shop to get it done, if it is do-able at home with basic tools ( all i got) and highschool auto tech classes of knowledge what would it take to be done? or just worth it to get done at a shop.

PeteK says it can be done with the tranny in the vehicle. He said only important thing is torquin' some particular bolt to 88 inch pounds.
