Installing Outside Rear View Mirror

Grandson has managed to remove the driver's side outside rear view mirror by backing it into a garbage tote (do not ask). I can order the mirror assembly and probably put it on (no Haynes Manual of course), however any tips greatly appreciated. Got to get this kids dad home before the next crisis.
