oil pressure problem

I just got a 88 crx si it has the 1.6 sohc the block has zc 6132957 can anyone tell by those #s what year the block may be it has mpfi. Next question the head had a noise in it found to be cam gear i replaced it and lost oil pressure it had 50 psi cold 25 hot ideling now 0 i changed the oil and filter with no luck still 0 even if i rev up to 3000 rpm.I was told the bottom end was new..If anyone has any ideas please share them before i pull the motor out thanks..

How was the cam gear making noise? was it loose?

it was a aftermarket gear I'm not sure if they come with a bolt or another washer to use it had started to wear on the key-way i had a friend turn the crank while i watched the the cam gear and seen the play..but after i changed the gear it lost oil pressure so I'm not sure if the cam gear was the problem or if the oil pump was i have it tore down now oil pump out looked at rod and main bearings they look good going to put pump in and see...

Well, if it was wearing around the keyway, that's no good, but I doubt it was making noise...

Usually, if you hear an unidentifiable noise, get a mechanic's stethoscope, and start poking around areas under the hood w/ the engine running. until it gets it's loudest... it's in that area.

thats what i did the only place i could pick the noise up was behind the cam gear i hope to have oil pump in next day or two had to order i'll update when i hear it run again thanks for the input..

When a bolt came loose on my b16 the car ran like ass, wouldnt move and make the most horrible clicking noise.. just from loosening one cam bolt, cam never came off either. I couldnt explain it.

Ok guys new oil pump in 75 psi cold sound good went for test drive about 5 miles came back about 25 psi hot thanks for the input going to put brakes on now....

25 PSI hot is not good.. it should stay around 40-60 constantly.

You may have worn bearings, you should look into that.

that's 25 to 30 psi hot at ideal i looked at rod and mains they looked good ever thing seems good right now....
