Differential fluid change?

How do you know when its time to change your diff. fluid? im wondering if mine has ever been changed at all. that stuff smells HORRIBLE!!!

Go by maintenance schedule. Serious. If something is wrong that makes you think fluid needs changing, chances are it's too late for fluid to make a difference.
It's a pretty easy job. Awkward, but depends on the vehicle. I've done it on several, and not even bought a gasket for refill (just RTV, and CLEAN mating surfaces!!!).

90wt gear oil smells nasty even when fresh.
Chances are yours has never been changed, even if it has, can't hurt to change it again.
When i did mine, i refilled it with Mobil 1 90wt and added the posi additive that i got from the dealer because my car has a posi rear.

yeah i think ill just go and do it either way, im not getting any trouble or anything, just one of those good things to do like a routine oil change

i usually change mine every 15k-20k
