I've got a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Superchared. But theres a problem and I need help. After I fill up with gas & go to start my car turns over but will not crank right up. I give it a lil gas and it gives trouble but will start. And at times it starts surgeing. But I remind you, this only happens once right after ifill up. All other times it starts with no problem. And say if my car is running and gas cap is removed it starts acting like its about to die then it will rev up,the rpm goes up and down til cap is put back on. And this happens at all times. Please any info would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like maybe the fuel pump is going bad. next time it happens, turn your key to the on position without cranking it, and see if you can hear the fuel pump run. you should hear it prime.

how long did you leave battery unhooked? was it the whole time while you put fuel pump in?

if you have an Auto Zone in your area, they will hook a scanner up to your car and pull the codes for you. once they give you the codes, you can come on here and let us know what they are...then i will be able to tell you why the light is on.
quick question though...when you fill up your car, or put gas in it do you make sure the cap clicks 3 times? if you do not that will throw an SES light.

unhooking the battery cable doesn't work to erase codes on OBD-II vehicles. You need to have them erased with a scan tool. But as stated earlier, have the codes pulled and post them, the CEL didn't come on for no reason.
