Need to replace the 275/60R15 tires on my '89 1500 Shortbed Stepside. Currently using Radial T/A's which were on there when I bought the truck. The back is very light though and they have never really given good grip. Failed inspection and need to replace the back two. I only do about 5k a year and too old to race down the street any more. Any suggestions?
Thanks, David

My 92 stepside runs the best on Michelin L/T or M/T depending on where you buy them, about 115-120 a piece. The best tires in my opinion for these trucks. They don't "roll" on themselves, better side walls, when cornering fast and wear better than anything out there. They give the best ride for a light rear end, tall profile truck.
When I was broke, I used to buy them used, hard finding a good round one, but that was the only way I could afford them. Now I've got a decent job and buy them new, the best money you'll spend on a tire.
Tires are one of those things - "you get what you pay for" - so buy the best tires you can afford.

Thanks. Could not find my size though. Can't go skinnier because the truck has arch flares. Anyway went to another garage and they passed inspection. Leaves me a few hundred to sort out all the other stuff on it. I became a citizen last year and I'm glad I bought Chevrolet. Probably be my first and last truck.
