The 500 I wish Ford had built

I like a lot about the looks and design of the 500 but one big thing I don't like is that it is FWD. I wish Ford would have made the 500 RWD instead of converting it over to the Taurus. Infinity & BMW have some nice RWD sedans and I like the LS but they all require premium unleaded. The only sedan out there that I've found that is RWD and uses regular unleaded is the Chrysler 300 of which I don't care much for. The ideal 500 for me would have the Cologne v6 4.0 with a 5 speed automatic. It's too bad Ford has all it's RWD invested in the SUV's.

Just get the AWD one.....the only difference betwen awd and 4wd is that awd is constantly on whereas 4wd has to be selected on. the PTO's on the awd is more than effieient enough that no one will notice a difference if the BASE car is fwd or rwd..

What I mean by RWD is that the engine faces the same way the car is going. Forward facing engines are easier to get to parts to work on, have stronger transmissions, and typically greater load capacities. All the foreign RWD are $30K+ and I just don't like the look of the Chrysler 300 series cars. I have found out that a GM Australian built car is being marketed as the Pontiac G8. It is in the mid 20's. The only thing I don't like about it is the fake hood scoops.

I have owned many Fords practically every vehicle I've ever owned was a Ford. In my opinion the 4.0 V6 is one of the top engines Ford has ever produced. They have it in the Mustang and it is pretty strong in that car. But the Mustang has no rear seat to speak of and it's just not the image I care to have though I do like it a lot. Even rented one with the 4.0 for a weekend trip and enjoyed driving it. I own both a 95 Aerostar and a 01 Ranger with 4.0's and have nearly 250000 mile combined on them. But alas my desire for a 4 dr. rwd finally convinced me to stray off the reservation and I purchased an 06 Infiniti G35, rwd with a 3.5 V6. Very impressive car. Not as roomy as the 500/Taurus but almost so. If my 95 Aerostar ever gives out I'll probably go back to a Ford Explorer with the 4.0 becaues I like having a SUV type vehicle in the stable. But for now I'm set for vehicles for some years to come.
