Hi,
Trying to get some help in diagnosing a problem. I have a 2000 Grang Am, 4-cylinder, automatic tansmission. The car had a remote starter install on it about 5 years ago. The car was recently tuned up (new plugs, air and fuel filters, oil changed).
The car will stop running and is hard to start when it shuts off. Also, there are times when the car is hard to start (turns over but not start) when cold or hot. When this happens, I haven't had had any "check engine" or "service vehicle" lights come on. Sometimes the car will re-start as soon as it stalls other times it takes from a copule to a few minutes before it will re-start. There have also been times the car shut off when accelerating or decelerating (almost caused a wreck recently with my son in the car).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Walter

There was a recall on many of the G-ams with faulty ignition switches. Call local dealer and give them your VIN# to see if the repair was done to your car.

Welcome to AF coralreef1962 !
I doubt the recall is still covered under your 2000 grand am.
I would test/check your crank sensor, here is a link!

Their are also other test procedures in the Tips and Maintenance section.
