Deff gonna need a manual tranny thats for sure, and power wise your engine is good to work on for the D series motors :), and the real question is how much you got to work with? $$$ wise

get a new car...auto civics are a waste of time/money if u want speed. frien w/ a 7th gen auto gets wasted by 94 dx's an 92 toyota paseos...auto civic=slower then poop.

You know I was about to be a complete dick to you saying all this crap about getting a new clutch and everything. Then I realized the guy said he had an automatic... Oh well. The first mod you should do is a swap!

So your saying there is no way to make an auto fast? you cant tell me that an auto with a full set up wont be fast at all... or maybe yea i could be wrong... all they do is slip. I was told they arent meant for high RPMS since it runs hydrolicly which causes them to burn out... true? Cant we like upgrade our auto trannys?

You won't have a fast honda automatic unless it's got a Level 10 tranny or something like that.

the problem w/ modding a honda auto is that it isn't going to hold up. if u build ur motor up, then ur going to blow ur auto tranny VERY quickly. we're not saying all autos are slow (z28 autos' are NOT slow by anymeans), but honda autos are very...very...very slow. compare the new 7th gen civics...an auto civic will run low 17's, but u can run a 5sp into 15s (both stock). thats a HUGE difference...

Autos can kick a manuals ass, if you put money into it.
> You need a new Torque Converter

That way you start at 3k rpms instead of 1.5k rpms
> Then you can get a shift kit, tryin to find one now, let me know if anyone finds one.
> Make sure you flush the tranny every 10k if you try to race with it.

Level 10 makes all those parts that you need EXCEPT all those parts aren't inexpensive. 3000 dollars just for the tranny, then the torque convertor.... But if you do spend your money on that you'll be shifting faster than anybody with a manual.
