Fuel Problems??

hey i been reasearching a problem that i have on my car. its kinda similar to "moaltar" problem but not quite. i can get my car to start and drive but the only problem is that i have to press on the gas pedal slowly otherwise if i just floor it, it will start making a weird noise from the intake and then it turns off.

i have changed the cap and rotor, and the fuel filter. i know i have a clogged fuel line because everytime i fill up on gas, when i take out the pump the gas just starts pouring out from the tank.
could the clogged lines be the reason why my car is acting like that??

by the way i drive an 89 civic dx w/d16z6

Thats not a clogged fuel feed line, its likely a clogged vent line that runs back to the opening to vent pressure.. That weird noise your likely hearing from the intake is the throttle being opened while the engine isn't firing but is still turning. Its sounds weird to alot of people at first, but thats my best guess without a description. My full throttle shift makes the sound im referring to when it cuts fuel while the throttle is still wide open. At first I could have sworn it was my tranny cursing at me for trying to use that feature of my ecu.

When you say it comes pouring out do you mean it comes spitting back out from the filler neck? Or it runs out on the ground under the car?

it comes out pouring from the filler neck, so i have to put the cap on really fast so that not a lot of the gas comes out.

Note, this is not a honda but uses the same thing. See how that vent line runs along the filler. Thats there to let the rushing air that's making your fuel blast back out relieve pressure in the tank.

wow... those holes could be a good reason that thing is a display and not installed... lol

"Why can't I fill my tank? It just never gets full!" (100 or so gallons later.)

and where exactly is that located?
is it something i will be able to change out myself or
does it have to be done by pros?

Let's see... it's a filler neck and vent... I would assume it's where you "fill" the gas tank... hence the name.

Remove those three nuts inside your fuel fill door, go under the car, put a jack under the tank, (preferably when it's nearly empty), loosen the fuel tank straps, and remove the two clamps that hold the vent and the filler pipe on to the tank.

How about you take it out and clean/test it first?

It's not hard to clean/test the vent line... pump air into one end (the tank end) and it will blow the clog out the other end. Don't go over 80 PSI in the line.

If you feel you need to replace it, Think dealer. Or bone yard.

okay so i went to pick n pull to try and remove it before i did it to mine.
i unscrewed the 3 bolts on the filler hole and i removed the two clamps on the bottom. i had to remove the back seat in order to see it. i had it all loose but couldnt find a way to take it out from the car.

any ideas??
