2004 Ranger not starting.

OK, I have a 2004 2.3L DOHC Ranger 5 speed. About 3 weeks ago I started to get a Knock from the engine area. Went to dealership and was told $4500 to replace engine. So I took it upon myself to fix it my self :iceslolan. Basically wanting to learn about the truck. After taking apart the engine (which consists of the camshafts and the whole head)I found the problem to be a rod bearing. (Yes I know I didnt need to take the whole head off to replace the rod bearing but at the time i didnt know.:shakehead) I replaced the bearing. Put everything back on torque specs and all. Go to start the car and cranks but wont start. Come to find out, Im getting no spark. I look further into it and I seem to think now its the crankshaft sensor. Im not totally understanding the timing process with the sensor and the crankshaft. How would I time it up to where the spark plugs will spark? Anything would help. Thank you! - Chad Scott

Get a manual that illustrates the aligning of your timing marks. Insure that the cams and crank are properly aligned.
