hi i have a 95 escort when driving its fine untill u press the clutch pedal and change gear

i have to literally fight the steering wheel to keep it in a straight line untill im in the next gear its fine again i have a whining coming from the wheel bearing and i know the wishbone needs replacing but could it be just these too to make the car control like this i accelarate the car goes fine as soon as i ease off it jumps to the left i was doing 80 once eased off to change gear and nearly ended up in a ditch could changing the wheel bearing and wishbone cure the problem

also just a quick question can i lower the escort 60 mm on 17s without rub and still have full lock

You need to shake down the front end, replace anything that is loose and then align.

I'd start by jacking the car up and see if the wheels turn freely then look at the tie rod ends.

no its just like if u boot it then ease of just a slight amount it goes the the left

checked the wheels this morning and the turn fine

the problem happens when going in to high revs then changing gear

i did a test yesturday and i drove it took my hands off the wheel and booted it the steering wheel jumped to the left and when i eased off went back again

Are you jaxcking under the control arms? If so find another spot, Under the rockers, and shake it down again. If you have a lower ball joint that is bad it will never show any play with the jack under the control arm!

Check where the steering rack mounts to the firewall and be sure that the mounts are tight. I have seen a few cars where the mounts have come loose over time.
