Cruise Control Issue

The cruise control on my 2001 Intrigue no longer works. Fuses are fine. Cruise button on dash (under hazard button) is illuminated. When I click on the "cruise/set" button on the steering wheel the cruise light on the dash illuminates. However still no cruise. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On another note, I'm obviously new to AF and after a quick glance over this site, I'm very impressed with the amount of information that is here and how well organized it is. I'll be back!!

Is the cable from the Cruise unit hooked up to the throttle?

Thanks for replying Hoppy. My appologies for leaving this thread for so long. I finally have time to re-visit this issue.

I discovered that there is a lot of 'play' in the cruise control cable. So i disconnected the cable from the cruise control module to discover a frayed nylon ribbon that is being held on by a thread. This has to be the problem.

So i ordered a new cruise control cable, it should be arriving in a couple of days.

I removed 4 tork screws from the cruise control module in an attempt to take it apart to see how I would attach the cable but the module doesn't want to come apart. Maybe it's not supposed to come apart. Does anyone know if it is difficult to attach the cruise control cable to the cruise control module?
