Bottoming out!

I have an 89 XJ Laredow 4.0 auto. I am running 30x9.5 15's BFG A/T's on stock rims. I have upgraded the suspension to heavy duty, by way of 4wd catalog, and replaced most of the suspension bushings with red polyurithane bushings. The shocks are a Monroe Reflex shock, cost a bit, hope they are worth it. At the beach yesterday, I would go into a drop in the sand from the tide and the front would bottom out, hitting the stops and scrubbing the tires. Is there anything I could do to prevent this, better shocks maybe?:banghead:

The shocks will not prevent the bottoming out. A higher spring rate (aka: stiffer springs) will stop the bottoming.

Frankly, bottoming-out under extreme situations is to be expected and should not be a problem. It just indicates you are using all the available suspension travel.
However, the tire rubbing is a problem and should be corrected.

So, unless you believe the springs feel too soft, the spring rate is probably okay. Do you have a lift in the Jeep? Maybe its time for a slightly taller front spring with a slightly longer bump stop.

I have 235/75R15 on my 96 Cherokee Sport. I think that's a 29" / 9.5" and with my worn out leaf springs a rear tire will rub on a rough stretch of highway.
