I just wanted to know if anyone had any idea how long/labor intensive the timing belt replacement on the '04 Sentra takes? Anything I should be aware of or special procedures before taking this job on? Also, what mileage interval is this usually performed at? Thank you.

I honestly don't know. I have been a domestic engine guy and the '04 Sentra is my finance's. If it has a chain, what is the service mileage for it then? Procedure? Time involved? If it has a chain, I would imagine it can go at least 100K miles right? Anyway, any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

I should probably mention that it is the 1.8S as well, should that make a difference or help in determining what it has.

im pretty sure its a timing chain...hold on lemme check for sure.

yep chain. alldata says 5.9 hours for the job. thats average for a mechanic. so if your not a mechanic figure a bit more.

but you dont need to. as far as i can tell nissan has no interval. meaning the chain lasts as long as the car. but im sure you could call a dealer and get that confirmed.

Nah, thanks. I just thought it had a belt and usually they would need changing around 75K or so. I just happened to notice her car had 90K when I was doing her oil change this weekend so thought I would ask what was involved. But if it has a chain I would have figured at least 150K before I would have to worry about it on this car. Thanks for the info. though.
