Can't get the window crank off

I need to replace the clips that hold the door panel on the door frame. The Haynes manual says to use a shop rag to work the crank handle off. I attempted to do this for about 20 minutes with no success. The tried prying with a screw driver. then used an pry bar. There are no pins holding it on that I can see. It wont budge. Does anyone know a trick?

Thanks

There is a special tool to get the handle off and most parts stores sell it

Sometimes the hard part is pushing the inner door panel back far enough to ge the shop rag or screwdriver in - and shove the spring clip out of its slot. Then you might have to wiggle the window crank for it to slide off its splines. Its one of those jobs that is much easier after you have done a couple of times.
Be careful that you dont lose the spring clip. It is likely to 'spring' off and land several feet away. Its invisible in the grass.
