Hello again 4Runner fans!
My 2003 4Runner Sport Edition V-8 is getting close to the point where it needs new tires. My original Dunlops still have decent treat overall, but as most 4 wheel drives, the outer-edges have more wear and with the harsh New England winter coming, i need something new...getting on the local highway at 6am to get to work and hope that the roads are plowed...well, thats a roll of the dice.
Ive read that the Dunlop's are not the best for winter, but ive enjoyed the quiet ride. However, im open to all alternatives...as long as im not payin out the nose.
Any help or advice is, as always, well appreciated.
Thanks!

I use Michelin or BFG. Never had any trouble with either brand.

Thanks, Brian. Its good to see that I wasnt the only one disappointed with the Dunlops.
The BFG's dont look too bad, but the Michelins have a pretty aggressive tread. I have to drive 12 miles of highway to get to my job. Are both the ones you suggested good on highway driving (eg: noise, tread-wear, etc) ?

My first choice in tires is Michelin. I currently have Michelin X Radial LTs on my 4Runner and it drives really great.

I've owned Yokahamas and they are great tires on a passenger car. They are not easy to get for me, so I don't bother.

Ok,...thanks, Brian.
Only reason i asked is because when i called around looking for tires n prices, the dealership(s) i called ALWAYS tried to push the Yokohama's they carry. Hmm....
Thanks again. Much appreciated.

I just bought a 2000 4 runner and needs new tires on it. I am thinks about 265/75 16. It now has 265/70 16. Will the 75s fit and look good? Will the 75 tires look to big for the wheel wells? Thanks Dave

Just wanted to say THANKS for all the feedback. I finally went with some BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A's from BJ's Wholesale Club. Other places wanted $200 each, i got em for $156 installed. They are quiet, comfortable, and even reduced that "typical 4runner moonroof rattle noise" down to nearly NOTHING!
Now if only the Town Fair Tire guys had gotten my steering wheel straight when they did the allignment, id be happy. Guess where i'm going after work to talk to the manager!?
