new troubles, stalling and rubber smell

Wow, nothing but trouble with my wife's car.
I have a 2002 Mercury Sable, Automatic. I don't know the size of the engine.
She just called me at work and said her car stalled when she was in the parking lot.
She said she was moving slowly trying to pull in a parking spot and it stalled. She tried to restart it and it stalled 4 more times. Also she said it smells for rubber.
I don't know anything because I did not go down there yet. I was hoping to get some suggestions before I head down there. Thanks.

Could be the IAC [idle air control) valve giving you problems. How many miles on the car?

Get it over to Autozone [or similar auto chain] and have them pull any codes...usually they do that for free.

Well it turns out it's the compressor. The mechanic told me it could be the bearing in the piulley or the clutch could have froze up or the compressor could be shot. Is it fixable or should I have a mechanic fix it.

AC components are tricky items for the DIYer.... Mainly because of the refrigerant issues when changing out the part. It you are not prepared for it with the proper tools and refrigerant capture device...it might be best to leave it a garage...unfortunately.
