body transfer

ok there is the thing. i have two trucks, a 92 k1500 with a 305, and a 98 c1500 with a 4.3 vortec. the body on the 92 4X4 is shot, but the body on the 98 is in PERFECT condition, and i like the dash in the 98 better then the 92, so i want to put the 98 body onto the 92 but after some reading, i not sure what to do about the steering colum, does the ignition switch run of the computer, and if so is the some way to make this work cause i want this dash not the old one. thanks
