High Flow H2O pump vs. louvers?

I overhauled my cooling system a while back on my 97 XJ. I replaced the radiator, thermostat, and water pump. This repair fixed the leaks and prevented the high temps but I still run warm (220 while driving slow). Does anyone have feedback on the high flow water pumps? Do they really keep you running cool in slow conditions? How about louvers in the hood?

If you dont currently need a water pump, dont bother getting one, they dont make much, if any, difference. Ive got a FlowKooler water pump, high flow thermostat housing and a three core radiator and my 96 still goes above 220 while sitting still for long periods. If I have the air on it'll stay down around 210 because the aux fan cycles on and off for the A/C.
Louvers will keep it cooler. The heat problem with XJs is the smallish radiator area, smallish underhood compartment and poorly ventilated underhood compartment.

220 is normal for these in low speed situations.

I'm aware 220 is still in the "normal" range, but it is still on the high side of "normal", and sometimes creeps up a little beyond 220. It's my understanding that the higher the temp the more problems that may occur. I want to keep the running temp at or below 210, and keep the auxillary fan from having to kick on - and thus drain power from the engine. (Oh, I also changed out my fan clutch with the overhaul) I have been looking at GenRight vents and a high flow pump on Quadratec, but don't know what will give me the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for the link! It answers some of the questions I have had. I am still curious what people have experienced with high flow pumps though. Are they worth the investment?
