ricer-X: nice job on the JDM conversion...but it's not SiR. it's still LHD
me: man you're right. good thing i wasn't trying to convert to JDM. go check the VIN son

antiguabill
03-17-2003, 04:40 AM
yeah good question! its so confusing choosing sports suspension, everywhere i read i hear conflicting opionions on brands.

however, i do fancy some H & R coil overs for £650.

H&R all the way!!! I have them on my siR and love ‘em! These are real coilovers as opposed to the sleeve & spring stuff you can get on ebay. The only thing with the H&R is that the dampening isn’t adjustable, but to their credit I think they have got it spot on and it’s a good compromise between comfort & handeling.

That is such a nice ride I love the rear bummper it is so cool, nice rear fog lights how much was the bummper?

ian16v
03-17-2003, 10:33 AM
it looks different cos i moved the car between pics!

the suspension is PI setup with a 50mm drop and the rear bumper comes as standard on uk models

dont worry jim this one wont be totalled, ive already lost one aint gonna lose another...., up in my neck o the woods these things are rare i had to travel 250 miles to get this one as apose to getting the red one in my home town! :rolleyes:

i think its funny, the americans seem to like our bumpers with fog lights and big ass euro plates and i think the american ones look much cooler.

the grass is always greener...

i know, i'd well prefer a smooth bumper wi no fogs and small number plate but hey, cant get it all!! :D

couldnt agree more m8 i wanted to get rid of the gay forgs and get a small plate, thats why i put a square one on mine.

When I get the wings west Kit for the DX I will have the number plate sizes of the us so i can get some motorcycle plates or Square plates to put on it !!!

antiguabill
03-18-2003, 02:19 AM
there may be a problem with that though...

its illegal to use non standard plates.

ive been DYING to take off my front one cause it looks so unbelivebly awful.

there ARE however, legal plate specification for special imported vehicles that dont have enough space to fit regular plates,
but you have to prove that your car is an import.

you might be able to get away with it, let me know how it goes, cause ill follow your lead!

Civic Jim
03-18-2003, 02:21 AM
Yeah well.... i will see if I get pulled by the filth to start off with and just keep some standard plates in the car....see how my luck goes lol

antiguabill
03-18-2003, 02:31 AM
yeah it could work.
my mate with the KA (yeah him again) has non standard plates but keeps a standard set with him just incase he gets stopped.
nd he has been a coupla times.

there seems to be a growing craze of people moving their number plates like to one side, kinda like an alpha or an evo6 which can look good if its there for a purpose, but i think it looks dodgy on a 1.0l fiesta!

are there more americans on this board than non americans or what? i would think that more questions about there language would be asked. i mean bits = parts, and bonnet = hood, its all confusing to me.

XxLuckyLisaxX
03-18-2003, 08:05 PM
hey at least someone asked about the bonnet cuz i wasnt gonna and i didnt know what the hell he was talking about. i thought bonnet? is that like a bra for the car?

Civic Jim
03-19-2003, 01:14 AM
yeah

hood = bonnet
trunk = boot
fender = bumper i think
header = manifold
intake = induction kit
license plate = number plate
cluster = dials

shit like that !

antiguabill
03-19-2003, 03:12 AM
lol! whast a bonnet? thats funny

nah its fair enough mate. i grew up in a canadian school in the caribbean so its never been a problem for me! :p

the only thing that was hard for me to get used to was people in the UK saying "cheers" :D

say it in the US and i think you have a glass raised....not exactly a word i would use in daily speach. but it's all good...i have you guys figured out (i think) ;)

Civic Jim
03-20-2003, 01:36 AM
Its just that i was talking to a mate in the USA about the UK interior and he showed me a piic of your car and said that the name of the bloke was Ian and you said that you totalled one before so I put 2 and 2 together.....

pretty bad crash , wot happened?

ian16v
03-20-2003, 10:07 AM
yeh it was pretty bad... but we were real lucky!

me and my mate were going home late night/early morning and came up behind another car he pulled into the run-in lane at a junction with no indicators so i braked, my mate went to go round me and went into the back of the car bouncing round and hitting me, i spun and slid down the road and into a ditch we were doing 120mph :eek:

not suttin i recommend and wont be doin it again
