leaky taillights

Why is it every GP i've seen has taillights that seem to have water in em?(mine included)

Do they make one that is waterproof?
How can they be dried out?
What has everyone else done about this?
Should I just not worry about it?

Mine Don't. Well Not anymore. I replaced one of them with a good used dry "sealed" taillight housing. Not sure what can be done or if any newer years had better sealant to prevent moisture from intruding.

I took mine apart and let them dry out, in the house. Then resealed the taillight assy with the flowable silicone, now I do not have problems with water getting in the taillight.

so much water it will take a week to dry out. I may try it next weekend if I get a chance.

What has everyone else done about this?


I had the moisture in the taillight problem when i bought my car a year ago. I ended up buying some aftermarket taillights. In my opinion, it makes the car look better and I never had the moisture problem with them either.

I tried to fix mine. It seems like the inner and outer pieces separate over time, allowing water in. I was unable to figure out how to open it up without breaking it. I then tried sealing it with silicone, but that only lasted a year. I ended up doing what hurricanes did and bought a new one. Really shines. Now I need to do the other side.

my gp leaks blinker fluid somethin terrible,but never uses a drop of taillight fluid...can anyone help?

Fix the blinking fluid leak, buy some more fluid, refill. Good to go.....:devil:

As horrible as it sounds, what I do to all of my cars is drill a very small hole in the back of them where it wont be seen and the wind ends up drying them out. Water shouldn't get in the hole because I use about a 1/16 in drill bit. This should do the trick...just did it to my new grand prix because there was water in the headlights....gone now!
