air in brakes

Hi i have a 2001 grand prix 3.8 gt n/s. I just did my brakes and rotors front and back (first ever brake job). Is there a quick way to take air out of the line without taking the wheels off again. When i step on the brakes it makes a swoosh sound. thanks everybody:licka: Also what do you guys recomend to clean the leather, i tried armoral leather wipes (suck) ?

you should'nt need to bleed the brakes if you did'nt open the system!!but you do need wheels off to bleed the brakes

As far as the wooshing sound while applying the brakes, that sounds like a vacuum booster issue not air in the brake lines. Does the pedal fall to the floor or get hard as the wooshing sound is heard?


Turtle wax saddle soap works great for cleaning leather without getting it greasy.

Meguiars makes an excellent leather protectant that isn't greasy either, but use it very sparingly on the surfaces you actually sit on.

On the issue of the leather seats the main thing is to make sure any chemicals used are not abrasive or oil/solvent based or made specifically to clean leather upholstery. All GM recommends is use a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a mild soap or saddle soap. Then let the leather dry naturally using no forced type heat so it doesn't crack.

Last time I did the seats in my GTP and my Regal GS I used BlueMagic Leather & Vinyl cleaner and it worked out fine.

after the intiall whoosh sound if i pump the brakes a couple of times the peddle seems to tighten up and they work fine. my friend who helped me pulled this linecoming out of the firewall and it sounded like air excaping he said that is what you are supposed to do (the line was by whe you put the brake fluid in) just to let everyone know it made the whoosh sound before we did the brakes. What did he pull out?:runaround:

That sounds like a vacuum booster or vacuum check valve (the little plastic piece that actually pops in the booster on the end of the hose) problem.
