What an awesome day! Top Secret was down from Japan and I got to meet and talk with, through and interpreter, Mr. Nagata (spelling). He is a really soft spoken man and one that is very humble yet amusing :) I mentioned to him I have quite a few videos on my pc of him doing speed runs and such and it was a great honor to finally meet the man. He in turn mentioned he was honored to know I had them, like quite a few of us do. I also got to meet his chief tuner and mechanic's. He is a really nice guy to talk to, and yes he is short too, considering I am all of 5' 7" he is still a few inches shorter than me but mates he can drive and has one huge set of balls! Fear is not even in his vocabulary.
They brought a drag combat car down that is street legal or just if you will. It managed a 10.3 on our shytty track but man does that thing have one hell of a top end charge. Just on 150mph!
Our very own Croydon Wholesalers Drag GTR once again showed some real grunt. Running a personal and meet best of 8.69 @ 161mph !!! This is a STREET legal car that is reg'ed and warrented on micky thompson DOT tyres.
I ran a personal best of 12.1 @ 112 mph and in the process stuffed 3rd gear syncro so when the temps dropped I was unable to run anymore. Oh well I will get it sorted and back out again to lower that more. I had a 60' time of 1.68 sec which is only .38 slower than the Croydon race car so I was stoked with that. I beat everyone I ran against except another GTR which ran 11.55 but he had to drive around me as I killed him off the line but then when I tried to shift into 3rd no one was home and away he went. I would ventrue to say I would have beat him or come very close since I had .5 on him off the line. I cut a .568 RT on a .500 tree and he had a 1.1 RT.

Well I have two choices. Get the syncros and bearings replaced for about $1,800 plus labour, which will be around $1,000 alone plus GST (12.5%). Or if my source for new bits is correct a brand new gearbox minus the transfer case for about the same price plus GST.
It is still drivable normally it just does not want to go into gear when under a load. So if I am only running about 12 psi of boost it is fine or even 1 bar or 14.6 it is fine. The min I run it up under WOT then try and quick shift, not flat shift mine you, it doesn't want to know about it. :(

Geez.. thats pretty pricey just for synchros and bearings.. perhaps I dont understand the fundamentals of this skyline gear box.. But all in all, sounds like a fun ass day! And bummer that you didn't get into the 11's.

Cheers it does sux big time. Having to double clutch third to get it in meant at least .5 of a sec lost due to losing momentum by time I got it into gear.
The GTR box is very complex if you will to pull apart. Ihave seen the inside and compared to say an M22 Muncie it is worlds apart. Not to mention everything is Ex Japan at Nissan or Nismo prices so no competition hence the high pricing.
