Jetta P0501 Speed Sensor

I have a 97 Jetta with a 2.0L and 01M auto that continues to generate a P0501 code. I have replaced the 3 sensors, have checked the wiring harness and grounds, but continue to get the code. I also switched TCMs and speedometer clusters, but neither made any difference. The car works fine except for throwing the P0501 code. Two of the sensors on the transmission seem are the same, but the VW dealer shows the sensors as being different. The problem I have is that the harness has 2-prong connectors for both sensors. The part numbers the dealer is calling for are 095 927 321 C and 01M 927 321 or 01M 927 321 B. Any ideas on why I contiue to get the code?

I have a 97 golf with the same code and the speedometer doesn't work. I was looking here for answers but couldn't really find any. So I decided to take out the cluster since nobody was having any luck replacing sensors. I took out the cluster and opened it up. If you look at the back of the cluster you'll see a black round thing about 3/4 of an inch in diameter right behind the speedometer. It just needed resoldered into place and now it works. Hope this helps.
