Rear seal, between tranny and engine,(2.4 liter) is possibly leaking. I did a search and found nothing. Can anyone please steer me in the right direction?

I'm not sure. It's my son's car. He brought it in for an oil change at Wall Mart and they told him he had a oil leak between his tranny and engine, so I assume it might be the rear seal. I told my son to stay on top of the oil level and we will have a look at it on Wednsday when we have time. I forgot to mention it is a 5 speed aswell.

If its the rear seal typically it leak leak while it is running and not moving. If you clean the area up really good and then start the car and just let it run. If it starts dripping it could be the seal. If it doesn't than take it for a 30 minute drive and see if it is wet after. If it is I would more likely to suspect the pan.

I'll give it a shot.
Thanks

It's definitely the oil pan. I crawled under the car and I saw oil on both ends of the engine. It's a small leak but it's still a leak. It is dry above the oil pan. This car has to last at least another two years. Is the oil pan a big job? One more quick question, The tranny is a standard 5spd. What is involved when it comes to fluids or lubricants and how do I do PM work on it. I'm really green when it comes to standards. Never owned one. Thanks for being patient with my ignorance.
