I have a 1997 2.4 liter grand am gt and was wondering where in the world is the crankshaft position sensor located. I have a haynes manuel but it dont tell me where the sensor is located on that specific engine. I have replaced all other sensors on this car trying to get it to run correctly but after you drive it for a little while (15 min) anmd slow down shift down into 1st and go back up to 5th gear the car jerks extremely hard and dies then it will not restart until the engine cools down. After replacing all other sensors i finally was asked by the guy at Autozone if I had replaced the crankshaft sensor. No I have no clue as to where it is. Can someone please help me.

Try looking near the oil filter.

just trace all the wire from the ignition module, a pair of them should wind up at the CP sensor...
