Re-occurring issue with my LS that now wont go away anymore. At some point somewhere along the line, something got wet and I cant find out for the life of me what it is exactly. The power steering wont come on, the odo shows lines opposed to the actual mileage and the tail/brake lights went all funny. I know this is all directly connected to a single component b/c when this problem would go away briefly all the above items would magically start working again. I've seen others mention to check the FEM (front electrical module) which is supposedly under the brake pedal? I've seen no such module in my searches and wouldn't quite know what to look for anyway, hence my desperate call for help to someone who might know! this is a 2001 ls sport, Thanks in advance for any replies

The front electronic module (FEM) is located in the front, driver's side, kick panel.

Since it sounds like this acts up pretty consistently now, it might be in your best interest to find someone with a professional grade scan tool that can access the Front Electronic Module and see what kind of codes it may be showing, or if there is no communication to it at all.

Certainly check the wiring connections to the FEM. Wherever you heard the FEM is likely involved, that was probably a good lead. According to the wiring diagrams, all three of the systems affected are tied to the FEM.

Hey thanks for the informative response, could you perhaps hint as to what the fem looks like? I thought I looked around pretty well under near the brake/gas pedal's but didn't see any electrical fuses or anything

It's not really near the brake/gas pedal, but in the kick panel. This is the area to the left of the footwell. You'll need to remove the plastic trim piece that trims out the area between the dashboard and and the carpet/floor.

It's a box with a couple of connectors plugged in to the bottom of it.
