Hey Guy's!
I owned a Pioneer Primier DEH-P750mp for probably 4 years. I was using it in my car for a couple years with no problems, then bought a new car, and installed the deck into my girlfriends car. She has been using it for another year and a half with no problems. I wired it in myesle with a best-buy install kit so I didnt harm the factory wiring. At the same time I installed a pioneer IPod interface. All of which has been working flawlessly for the past couple years in her car and couple more in mine.
Yesterday she asked me to look at her cd-player. She said it wouldn't eject a disk. Sure enough there was a disk inside there, CD-r to be exact. Its not like its stuck halfway out, its completly inside the drive as if someone insirted it and then switched sources. Funny thing is when I switched sources, it didn't recognize a disk even being inside, it skipped directly from radio to Ipod. It also would not eject the disk. Almost like the cd deck didnt realize there was a disk inside.
So, today I had a little time, so I pulled the radio fuse thinking maybe just a reset would do the trick. Once I put the fuse back in, the deck booted up, and I pushed source. It switched from ipod to radio to cd, and it started to load the cd. Then it stopped and displayed "ERROR A0".
Does anyone know what Error A0 means? Now it does it constantly and still will not eject the disk.
Funny thing is now.... It still works on ipod and radio. However when I switch to CD, then I push the eject button, the deck resets itself. Its very very odd. Almost like it lost its memory parameters or something.
What can I do? I like this deck a-lot, its been great, has great sound, but maybe its time to go. problem is she LOVES her ipod interface and wants to keep it. Any recommendations?
Thanks guys, sorry for the long write-up.

BTW, does anyone have any tricks to remove a pioneer deck without the little removal pieces (I lost them)? I can remove the whole dash again, but if there is any way to remove the deck, or any little self fabricated tool I could use, please let me know. Thanks!

just out of curiosity, does the radio keeps it presets ? Did it keep it presets before all of this ?

Thanks for the response Paul D, yes before hand it kept its presets just fine, and it still does to my knowledge. It just lost them when I pulled the fuse in an attempt to reset it. I'm sure if I reset them, it would keep them no problems.
I've been researching other decks. I like the pioneer deh-p860mp. I would like to stick with a pioneer because of the ease of installation plus the ipod interface is already installed. What is your opinion on pioneers (premiers)? I've had good luck with them..... untill recently.

apparently A0 error means the laser pickup is bad or it can't read the CD you have in it. If you can somehow get it out, try a store bought CD.

Ok, thnaks Paul! I think within the next couple of days I will tear the dash apart, remove the CD player, check the connections, and remove the disk. I hope that solves my problem. I will report back.
Thanks again!

Paul
I just removed the pioneer deck, disassembled it, took the cd out, and put it back together. Same deal. Error A0. Even without a disk in there, it switches to CD as a source and immediatly displayes "ERROR A0". I think its busted. I just went ahead and installed the factory cd player back in there for now.
Now I need to find an aftermarket that has an ipod interface (or an ipod interface that hooks up to a factory 2002 Grand Prix cd player)
Know of anything like that?
I was thinking kenwood mainly because they have red display buttons to match the interior.

I was afraid it was just bad, those error codes in the link says the -5V line was bad. You would have to have some test equipment, schematics and good idea of what you are doing to fix something like that.
Most everyone includes ipod interface these days so I would definitely go with what looks the best.

I don't think it would be worth much slightly used, worth basically nothing if it's bad.
