Air Bag light Blinking
10-03-2008, 11:01 AM
I recently had a collision in my 98 maxima. The nose ripped off, but the bags didn't deploy. I've replaced the nose, but the Air Bags light is still blinking. Any suggestions?

Have you tried resetting the airbags? You may need a new module.

Thanks. I don't know how to do that, but I'm willing to try-what would be the steps involved?

There are also impact sensors, I'm not sure if Max's are equiped. Sometimes they are located in the nose.

Read the FSM from page RS-38 onwards = How To Read Airbag self diag codes. The blinking lights indicate a code which may or may not indicate a malfunctioning part.
...or :( ...
Goto Nissan dealer who read$ the very same error code with Nissan Consult...
One way to reset is to take batt cable off for 30min (or more).
Take care not to deploy bags on uself; the Airbags kill more ppl than save.
--->UGA statistics professor Mary C. Meyer: "new analysis of existing data indicates that, ... airbags ... increased probability of death in accidents."

Check out Maxima.org. They have many how to's in the 4th gen section. It's located in one of those. Create and account and use the search feature.
