When you first start your PU, the computer senses (via tempt. sensor) that the engine is cold and operates on default mode. That means that all inputs are temporarily ignored. As the engine warms, the computer starts reading all inputs. Suggest you check that temperature sensor (not the gauge sensor).

Try to get the code on the CEL with an OBD II.

You might take a close look at all your vacuum hoses, a leaking hose could cause the rough idle

okay so i got ahold of an OBDii reader and the check engine light was for the o2 sensor. still didnt fix the rough idle problem, was thinking EGR valve? im about to give up lol

Use some carb. cleaner spray around the intake looking for leaks. Spray around the vacuum hoses also if you hit a leak the engine will smooth out.
Make sure your Maf sensor is connected you might try cleaning this item.
Check and make sure the air filter is clean and the gas filter has been changed. Did it find it lean check fuel pressure. Rich look more for proper air flow good hoses.
