Thanks Kitt1993, but that is a Ford Part # and I need the FCC ID# that goes with that part #.
Near as I can figure there's no difference between black or gray, I have both and they all work fine.
The Ford number can be ****-15K601-** Mine all have different prefixes and suffixes, they all work fine.
The FCC ID number can be CWTWB1U*** I have many variations, they all work fine.
In fact, I've never had one that didn't work.
Here's what you need to look for:
On either the peanut style or the box style.. they come in THREE variations. Why? Because Town Cars were made with different options.. REGARDLESS of the variation, these remotes all work.
Variation one: Either peanut or box, there is no switch on the back side.
Variation two: Either peanut or box, there is a on/off switch on the back side and just above the switch is printed "Memory recall one".
Variation three: Either peanut or box, there is a on/off switch on the back side and just above the switch is printed "Memory recall two".
The remotes with the switch, Mem1 or Mem2 correspond with the Memory buttons on the drivers door... (all this is in your FSM or User Manual) when you preset mirrors and seat to Mem1 and use the Mem1 remote to enter the car.. the seats and mirrors move to Mem1, or Driver one. The 2nd driver (longer legs and 6'6" tall) uses the Mem2 remote and mirrors / seats move to his setting when he enters. This has advantages when you share your Town Car with a wife or ???.. doesn't do squat for me.. no-body drives my car.
Anyway.. if you do have the Memory functions, and no memory remote the car will still unlock with a non-memory remote. Also the other way around, if you have no memory functions, and a memory remote.. it will still open.
Ebay sells these.. a bit expensive right now.. just decide if you need the memory functions or none, then decide if you want a Mem1 or Mem2 remote or both, and be sure to tell the seller exactly what you want. The box style has a bit better range than the peanut style (they both suck) but they both work fine. The buttons are a bit funky on the peanut style.. kinda like their falling inside.. but they work just fine.
Programming is simple.. it's in your books or I can re-post it here... it's also posted in many threads in this forum too.

Steve (Towncar);
Thanks for the reply and the information.
I purchased 3 new remotes on the internet as follows:
Black body, 4 button, 1 - CWTWB1U322 & 2 - GQ43VT11T (FCC ID#s) and have tried to program them all using the posted procedure. At step 2 ("press 1/2 & locks will cycle") nothing happens! Found that by pressing the 1/2 button 7 times the locks cycle, but I read in another thread that this is just an indication that it is now out of program mode.
Batteries all check OK. 3.24-3.31 volts.
Any idea of what I am doing wrong? Do I have the wrong remotes?
Harold

Harold...
This is a problem.. I'm guessing you do not have the correct Permanent code.
If you are using one of your Personal codes, you can't enter programming mode, you must use the Permanent code.

Depends on the year of your Town Car:
These instructions will work on Lincoln Town Car models 93 94:
Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located behind the glove box. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
These instructions will work on Lincoln Town Car models 95 96 97:
Enter 5 digit permanent entry code (personal codes wont work) into the keyless entry keypad. Within 5 seconds of pressing last button of code, press the 1/2 button. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter within 5 seconds of pressing the 1/2 button. Locks will cycle to indicate successful programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible) within 5 seconds of previous transmitter. (if the keypad light goes out before all transmitters are programmed, the entire process must be repeated). Press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons simultaneously on keypad to exit programming mode.
These instructions will work on Lincoln Town Car models 98+:
Cycle Ignition from OFF to RUN 4 times within 3 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter ( up to 4 transmitters total possible ). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Hi Steve;
I don't have a personal code. Only using the permanent code that unlocks the car. It works fine!
I have tried the programming method for the '95,'96, &'97 TCs... ??????
Must have the wrong remotes. Huh?????

Well.. supposedly if you call a FLM dealer, or the Ford hotline.. they will give you the exact FOB numbers you need based on your VIN.
Tell you what.. wanna run a test? I'll send you my working remote to play with for a bit, you send me yours to play with, and you may get one step closer to the solution to this problem.
If your #322 doesn't work on my TC, and my #311 works on yours, well you know what to look for and I know what to avoid later too :)

Thanks for the offer Steve.
FLM dealers only give me the part # and that changes with the dealer! They want to sell me a new one from $40 - $97 plus programming.
I will try to contact the center next week and hope they will give me more information.
If I can't get any information from Lincoln, I would like to try your exchange.
I still need to find out why the programming procedure will not work. Maybe I will pull the glove box and look for the connector, could be I have a very early '95 that programs as a '94!
I took my "Peanuts" apart and cleaned the switches. Got one to work OK, but my other one is still flaky!
Let you know how I make out.
Much thanks for your help.

I know on the 93 model there is a Grey connector behind the glove box on the right side that needs to be jumpered to program these fobs. I might have a picture if I look around.

Hi JYD; Mike;
I am going to contact Lincoln Service Center tomorrow, if I don't have to work.
I'm hoping that with my VIN they can tell me what procedure my TC uses to program the remotes.
I found the picture of the connector for the earlier TCs in another thread, but I don't see one in my '95. I didn't dig real deep into the wire bundle, so, if I do have a very early '95, it could be there and I have just not found it.
I should know more tomorrow!

Hi Harold
Did you find that picture of the connector I posted way back there? I couldn't remember if I had posted it or not. At least you know what you are looking for now. If you have an early 95 it most likely has the older set up.
I played around with programing some key fobs a while back. I never had a whole lot of luck since my remotes were so busted up and worn out. I just threw out a bunch of them out of frustration, probably shouldn't have done that. Any way by the time the cars get to my yard the fobs are usually long gone, I am happy to even get keys for the cars.
