So as of the last week i have slowly been losing power.

Today, it got so bad i cant even go over 30mph...

The clutch is slipping almost completely, but i have an almost new clutchmasters stage IV in it, and was doing fine until now. What are some causes and fixes for a slipping clutch like this??

To be sure the clutch hasnt worn out yet...under normal driving

Once your clutch has started slipping there is no fix for it. If you replace it right away and do not allow it to slip a lot then you may be able to get away with just replacing the disk. If you allow it to slip a lot trying to get the car to move your just warping up your flywheel and pressure plate which will also have to be replaced if its messed up bad.

O yea and those clutches suck IMO

Holy shit 5 threads... I think thats a new record

hey what stage is your zoom clutch??

stage is such a relative thing stage doesn't mean jack shit. Look for clamping force and what type of disc.
For your setup ACT 2100 w/ street disc I would recommend I have had a really good experience with ACT> Can't say the same for exedy (cerametallic stage 3 or 2) or stock. Clutchmaster I heard was shit. ZOOM i hear makes decent clutches. Fidanza makes good flywheels etc etc
Exedy does make a really good twin clutch but thats way overkill for you.
just don't want you to think I am knocking the brand

hows this one? doesnt say howmuch power itll hold, and im shooting for about 400 hp when its all said and done, do you think this clutch kit will do me justice?

well it has a 4 puck which is pretty hardcore. My setup I use a 6 puck and it shakes the car every now and then when I don't engage it quite right. The 4 puck I mean it will hold but streetability is going to go down the tubes. It really should say what clamping force they put with it but if its mated with a 4 puck chances are its a 2600 or 2900 which is plenty.

I use a sprung six puck you are looking at an unsprung 4
If I were you I would go with the sprung 6 puck and a 2600 if you want to maintain streetability and 400hp. Cough my set up cough

I am running a stg 2 disc with a heavier pressure plate. I am running a full circle disk with kevlar but I think you can only buy the 4 puck. Kevlar engages just as smooth as a factory disc but holds more power and wont glaze over like a stock disc. Its really a nice setup and will hold anything you can throw at it since your fwd. Tires will break way before the clutch will slip.

yea dont worry dave was joking with you too. the more you spend the more your car puts pressure on the system and likelyhood of something else will break. its the only way it happens

I also appreciate the lack of consideration given to several members on here. Time well spent since the OP didn't listen to a damn word.:screwy:

Why listen when they can come here for advice and see what people who know what their talking about gives advice? Makes too much sense maybe? I don't know.

$2500 for a new clutch? I'm ready to type "rape" and copy and paste it until I run out of space. I paid $3000 for a rebuilt tranny, replaced the whole drivers-side suspension (minus shocks), new clutch/flywheel, and was without the car for a week. I thought that was rape, but you clearly got your ass stuck. Not only was it not lubed, but they sprayed hairsprayed it.

I bought my whole car for twice that. Out of the box 11s. :shakehead

Yea lando sure is right I'm glad I took the time to help you out with your clutch selection.
So when you took the car in and were like my clutch is slipping and I want either a zoom or act clutch did the mechanic be all like "no no you don't want that you want what I have here in the shop this loop? clutch ya ya thats what you and want and hey since I'm gonna have the clutch off I think its time you rebuild that tranny I mean because your clutch was slipping your tranny must be on its way out too ... Oh yea and its gonna cost 2000 no wait 2500 and you can have a lightened flywheel and an ass raping when you leave.

This is EXACTLY why I don't like the "new breed" assclowns. No respect or appreciation for the knowledge of others who've been doing this a LONG time. They ask stupid fucking questions, the answers to which are all over the internet (hell, they haven't built one of these in almost 10 years), and don't take any personal responsibility for anything.

God help this kid if he posts another thread about his trans or clutch on ANY forum I frequent...

Indeed.

That is insane. I've had a dealer replace a DSM clutch with an aftermarket unit for half that...

Did anyone read what I wrote...at all lol...im gonna double check to make sure I wrote it right

I never said 2500 for a new clutch...it is not made out of platinum

I said, new performance clutch, aluminum flywheel, and the entire trans was overhauled(bc it had 157000 miles on it, parts were bad, including a bad sync gear and bad reverse gear) and seeing as I A)have the money and B) already had the engine overhauled, and finally C)already had the tranny off I decided to allow them to do the whole works, maybe I just dont come from where shit work is done cheap, this was a set rate, and the cheapest from 2 different trans shops

I only asked a question, no need to insult, thats just immature, and I didnt think that was how you treat people who just have questions, if id known I was gonna get chewed out ida saved them, I mean do you guys have nothing better to do(those who did the insulting) And for the people who run this site to take part in the insulting instead of stopping it, wow I hope your not the manager where you work

oh and no i chose loop bc of my project budgiting, but it is rated to handle much more power than im putting down

lord no i didnt pay 2500 for just a clutch, lando is that really what you thought i said, if so you should have your eyes checked

And just what is it that your gonna do about it? nothing.

Stupid questions? Really? What did I ask that was just soo stupid?

its funny, the moderators will allow someone to speak to me like this, yet if i respond in kind, the thread gets locked or something

:screwy:

Vanilla gorilla has been nothing but kind to me, and I thank him for it and his help.

Damn you guys get out of hand fast. It seems like all of boostjunkie's threads get locked sooner or later. I think some of you guys spoke a little to soon saying that he got rapped for just a clutch install. That price sounds a little high to me still but he is getting a lot of work done and it may cost more for labor up there. In the end its his money and he can do what he wants with it.

Thread is now locked. If you have any other comments shoot me a pm.

Boostjunkie - about your comment about the mods here. We are not against you in anyway. We all volunteer our time here just like everyone else, you may be on here more than we are and thats when all this stuff goes on. Then when we check the site we lock these types of threads. I know most of the mods on here and busy as hell with school right now just like I am and we try to be on here as much as possible but we dont catch everything as soon as it happens.
