Drinking alone. Good or bad?

I used to, but not anymore, drink alone all the time.

This was between October 06 and Nov 07, when I was playing World of Warcraft, and getting CHEAP alcohol from work (on average 2 cases of beer for free a week from reps) and when I got home in the afternoon I would just start drinking, and wouldn't stop for anything up to 7-9 hours later when I went to bed, I used to spent my monday night 20 bucks I made on guitar lessons on a 6 pack of smirnoff ice cans.

At one point, I had my entire right hand side of me where I am sitting, completely covered in beer bottles, and also my entire desk, which has a fair amount of room on it.

Well since I left that job, I do not drink alone anymore (in fact, and you won't believe me, but I hardly drink at all now because I gained 15kg's which I took me 8 months or so to lose).

Well, I do not have a fundamental problem with drinking alone, I have quite a bit of alcohol still left over from April 07 that I haven't touched.

Good or bad?

I have a beer now and then alone, nothing wrong with that... but i dont drink to get drunk alone... then theres no one to share your antics with...

I drink a beer or two if i'm eating by myself somewhere like a deli or something, but i agree... drunken antics and douchebaggery is best displayed to an audience

I DRINK ALONE great song!!i drink alone all the time because im the only 1 at home that drinks.just beer & not to get drunk but some times that happens.

I only drink when I'm alone or with somebody. Or on days ending in "Y". :biggrin:


Seriously, it depends on who you talk to. There are those that say if you drink alone you're an alcoholic. Then there are those that say if you drink socially you're an alcoholic. Then there are those that say if you drink at all you're an alcoholic.

I do both. Sometimes you just need a couple beers, to relax with no one around.

I usually have a glass of wine if I've made a nice dinner, and a beer or something if I'm just sitting around watching TV. Only like once a week and I never really get drunk. Sometimes though, going to bed a little tipsy makes being alone not so bad...

Applying morals to ingesting substances doesn't make sense.

Ingesting substances is a health issue.

I drink alone sometimes. Not that uncommon to find me playing COD4 online with a six pack by my side. Alcoholic? I've been called worse.

Oh man, one or two drinks is always fine, I am talking half a case of beer.

I don't drink heavily alone, i save that for being with people, alot more fun.

i drink alone, in a crowd or well anytime after 5PM until whenever i pass out everyday. drinking has really helped me through my ex girlfriend leaving me for my best friend. lets face it, alcohol is great.

I wouldn't say that there's anything wrong with drinking alone on occasion, but to get drunk all by yourself every single night, then yes you do have a problem. I mean what is the fun in getting drunk all by yourself, there's no one to share your corny jokes with and there's no one to laugh with, so I see no point in it, but we are all entitled to our own opinions.

They make Smirnoff Cans here, imported by Diagio, and I used to drink them for their 2.1 standard drinks in a can, and yummy sugary lemonade goodness.

To an extent, what you do under the influence is what the morals apply to.

I personally don't like the consumption of alcohol when I'm alone, I'm only a social drinker and do it just lighten up and have a little more fun. Some times you just need to lighten up :)

G-Force ~ Nice car, you will lose alot of powerband but alot of headaches to with the swap. I'm guessing you don't have a single turbo setup though, your missing out :p
