Which Penzoil prod. will work.
The owners manual on my 95 geo says GL-5 gear oil and the factory service manual says GM pat # 12346190.
The penzoil syncromesh says for GM 12345349(same as my chev. truck) and 12345577 .
Penzoil has on their web site........
Pennzoil® Synthetic Gear Oils 75W-90
GL-4 and GL-5
and
Pennzoil® Synchromesh Fluid (these are 2 different products).......
I also found the GM part # on the Royal Purple web site......
Replaces GM all models (PN12346190 Syntorq LT) http://www.royalpurple.com/productsi/blkArrow.gifMax-Gear 75W90 (http://www.royalpurple.com/gear-oil.html)
And a 3rd web site....
AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube
AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube (MTG)
replaces GM part # 12346190

royal purple is well knowen but pezoil is also so i would go with penzoil i took a throtle howsing body off a 3800 or 3.8 multi port and it was clean as a whistle inside that moter. another one i took off looked like chimney crusted up. well they used kendall so penzoil i think.

It would be the one labeled 75W-90 or GL-5. My dad told me about this when I was getting ready to change my transmission oil but since I was unable to find the penzoil synthetic oil, I used what was available.

If you have a Metro/Swift with a 5 speed manual transmission, the recommended fluid for these gear boxes is "Synchromesh" fluid. These transmissions have brass rings that help the gears mesh when the RPM's are not the same. In order to help prolong the life of the synchros, I suggest using the proper fluid. You can get the Pennsoil and Castrol brand from some parts stores and the GM brand at a dealership.

Sychromesh is the only way to go. Pennsoil makes it all, go get the yellow bottle Johnny posted above at Auto Zone for $6.95. GM pours the same stuff in their bottle and charges $14.95.

But the Penzoil says on the bottle for part # 12345349 and 12345577.
It dosen't mention #12346190 which is in my geo factory service manual.

Probably any one of those you originally mentioned would be fine, there are four or five different recommendations in the manuals even though the transmission didn't change in any way from 89 - 01. Sometimes the owner's manual and service manual recommend different things. Your 95 was built when GL-5 was the new, hip thing, before they discovered that it eats synchronizers. They went back to recommending 12345349 a year or two later. Plain old GL-4 Synchromesh works best and the cheapest way to get it is the yellow Pennsoil bottle.
