Coolant Leak

Thought I pose a question or two as I break out the Repair Manual tonight...I have a coolant leak (more than a reservoir on a 20 minute cummute) and without putting a UV dye in the mix is there any other way of testing to see where the leak may be coming from? Seems to be tracing a path from the front of the engine and dripping off the front of the axle. Can't find a water pump weap hole. Value gasket? Other gasket? oil pan gasket? I want to replace everything that it could be before getting down to the head gasket. I'm doing a compression test later this week just to make sure, but I believe gasket replacement is the fix? Let's hope! Suggestions/feedback welcome!

I have a 95' Tracker and had a similiar problem. There was a crack in the top of the plastic resevoir. I could only see it when the system was hot and pressureized (spelling). Good luck.
