Datsun engine

Hi everyone, just joined and really like what i see here. plan to spend a lot of time here learning. i was trying to find some info on an engine when i found this site. the engine was a freebie and an oldie. my neighbor who is a mechanic looked at it and said it was a 1200 datsun. can someone tell me where the id numbers are located on the engine? it has the distributor located on the right side about halfway back on the engine. i'd like to use the engine to power a generator for standby power. maybe convert it to propane. i need to find the specs as in hp,torque,rpm.ect to see if it's suitable for a genset. any help,info is greatly appreciated. George
