i recently bought a 1996 cutlass supreme, 3.1 litre,4 doors, it,s only got 55,ooo miles on it. but it was in the salt up in massachusetts. usual problem area,s i,m watching out for include : 1) pre-mature brake wear,2)intake manifold gasket leak ,3)malfunctioning abs sensors,4)electric window problems. What else would you guys put on this list ? thanks for any advice. Jim.

I would also be looking at the exhaust and cat for corrosion and the wiring.

I would also inspect the brake lines these can get rusty pin holes and cause braking problems. :2cents:

Bingo ! i run it up on a ramp to do oil change last night. one of the brake lines looks like it,s about to crumble apart like a cookie. this car has 4 wheel disc. if the line falls apart will i still have at least partial braking ? my skilled shady tree guy sholud be able to replace a brake line without too much complications. i hope.

Make sure is doesn't let go and empty the abs, then getting it bled is a problem.

Also If the line breaks open, you wont have much if any brakes! :yikes:
I'd get it taken care of ASAP! and inspect the rest of the lines. :grinyes:

I sold it for a heavy profit. I ain,t gonna be spending $$ fixing brake lines ,etc. My 99 ford escort lx just runs and runs with almost zero $$ in repairs.
