i only put in an order for 2 tires but they ordered 4...don't mind have the extra 2...but towards the end i ended up spliting my lug nut key :(

seems like you're on the right track so far... way to include form AND function in your setup... it's nice to see that some of us still care about what our rides look like in addition to the performance... I don't include myself in that statement.

I must ask though, if those parts were available in any other colors... like.. I don't know... red? or black? ya know.. something that actually matches the car :P

Just bustin yer balls man.. looks great, keep it up!

purple was the only color...would have been nice if they had black or red

Ditch the tires, step one.

Yeah I know they are cheap and a good deal, but I had them on my crx and I thought they were the shit.. then I stepped up to a real tire and I understand now that they were just shit.

If you want to autocross take a look at the hankook rs2 z212, or falken azenis rt-615. Those are the standard for autocross tires. There is also a dunlop that just came out and a bridgestone I believe, but not many people use them.

I run the hankooks and going from the nittos to those was like adding flypaper to the wheels. Plus they are only $68/each in 195/50/15 which is dirt cheap for one of the best performing tires available. The treadwear isnt as high as say a toyo t1r, but I don't mind replacing them once a year or year and a half.

buddy of mine runs a miata in stock class and he's been using BF Goodrich Tires forever now... performs consistenly well on them too.

He uses three types, depending on what kind of day it is and the track conditions:
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KD&partnum=245YR7GFTAKDL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=0)

BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Super+Sport+A%2FS&partnum=245WR7GFASXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=3)

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2&partnum=245YR7GFTAKDW2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=2)

And his every day tires are:

BFGoodrich g-Force Sport (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport&partnum=245ZR7GFSP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=1)

I don't think I've seen him place less than 4th on any of those tires, except when something goes wrong w/ the car or something.

He's actually running SCCA AutoX tho... when he bought the car, it was intended for SCCA use.. and they came and inspected it before he signed the title to make sure nothing was done to the engine, transmission, and rear end. They then placed seals on each part, one on the valve cover, oil pan, transmission gearbox cover, and rear end diff cover. If those seals are broken, he's disqualified.

He also has a sponsorship through Sears (go figure, he works there) and B.F.G. (Go figure, one of Sears' top tire lines) so he gets the tires at a serious discount, and gets free mounting, balancing, etc. And they don't even make him put decals on his car.

I believe your thinking of SPEC miata. In which the rules are very tight to keep all of the cars the same. Its also full road course racing rather than auo-x. My roommate owns about 4 1/2 (yes 1/2) miatas and I hang out with a miata club every week, so I pick up on stuff like that. They are also who I autocross with.

those Nittos are what i'm already using that i have no complaints at all with them...they were $68ea vs $88ea Discount Tires was selling them for...i may switch tires, but only after i've gone throught the set

Yeah, that's it... Spec Miata

Spec miata is nuts. But that is real racing, everything is the same and its down to your skill...the entire field is packed within one turn and your fighting your ass off to get to the front in one piece.

As for the tires. I wasnt suggesting you ditch brand new ones..but for the next set if you want autocrossy goodness those are what you need to look at.
