Car audio wiring question

OK so I have a bit of a dilemma. I have 2 speakers and one amp... One speaker is DVC at 4ohm and the other is single at 8ohm. The amp is at 8ohms as well. I want to run each coil on the DVC speaker in series to make 8ohms so I have essentially 2 8ohm speakers but how would I wire that up to an 8ohm amp. And if all else fails could I run 16ohm load in the 8ohm amp without damage? Or run 4ohm load into the 8ohm 40watt amp without damage? Thanks.
