'64 Chevy Impala SS Trunk Key lost.
I'm an idiot, I should have made a duplicate. But I didnt. To further the situation, I'm always buying new stuff and my car is completly restored. SO I thought I would "DRILL" the lock out; well I drilled the whole through the dam thing but the trunk is still locked (im sure this was stupid too).
Any ideas on how I can remove this lock; I bought a new trunk lock for $20 bux; but the fact of the matter is my fully restored car is sitting in my garage with the trunk shut with the prior "drilled" trunk lock still in tact.
Can I drill a certain area; any recommendations?

Welcome to AF.
Yeah, we all have made mistakes.......... I have done some real winners, too.
First, try getting a big flat blade screwdriver, a hammer and some vice grips. Tap the screwdriver into the lock where you have drilled, clamp on the vice grips and give it a good firm twist in the direction you would normally use the key. You may be able to break the lock inside and open the trunk.
However, do not turn too hard; you may distort the sheet metal around the lock.
If necessary, try to remove the rear seat and go into the trunk from there. let me know if you do not know how to remove the back seat.
Anyways, if the trunk is mostly empty, you may be able to wriggle in, but if you are built like me, then get a skinny friend to go in for you. Take a flashlight and some pliers.
Depending on how the linkage is designed, you may be able to reach the linkage and give it a pull to pop the latch.
Or you may be able to slide the lock cylinder retaining clip off the lock, remove the cylinder, then pull on the lock's linkage to pop the latch.

are the door and trunk key not the same? on my 77 monte carlo they are

Anyhow; going through the back seat? I tried; forgot I got a narly air tank there so I'd have to remove that. I've completly drilled through it today, and I got this bezel that just wont f'n move! If I try to apply pressure, I can see my trunk metal moving (so I'm nto trying to do that). I guess ill drill more, maybe up down left right then if it fails, go through the indepth process of removing my tanks and having my brother going in through the back.
Once in there from the back, would you figure it being that hard?
