Exhaust Manifold

The donut where the manifold connects with the y-pipe is bad. I can move the y-pipe up and down. Would this cause a noise at idle.It almost sounds like a ticking.

Yes, a bad donut will cause an exhaust leak. You may not hear the leak at idle, but under load, it will sound just like a ticking. I recently changed my y-pipe and have encountered the same issue. If the y-pipe is not lined up perfictly, the gaskets will not seal. The gaskets are basically a metal donut and are about $10 a piece.

Actually its only at idle that i hear the noise.
