NYC: Do Hondas get jacked?

Since a move to the big dirty-ass apple may be in my future, I was wondering if it would be totally stupid to bring my car. Would a black 97 accord, fairly nice looking but nothing too flashy, get fucked up or stolen down there?

This goes for anyone moving to any big city, if you can do without a car(meaning you can walk/bike or use a bus/subway/taxi to get around), then dont t bring a car with you. Traffic is always a nightmare, parking spots arnt the easiest things to find, and if you have a nice car that you dont want anything to happen to then bringing it to a big city isnt the best idea. Remember in a city you have a lot more people concintrated in one area.

Yeah, I knew that part.. thing is, I might be moving to the city proper, or I might be moving to somewhere like Westchester just outside the city, or I might be moving somewhere else entirely, where this isn't a concern. If I do move to NYC, the car would only be used for trips away from the city, not daily getting around.

I would be more worried about it getting hit or in an accident, rather then it getting stolen. Just find more out about the area you are moving into. Some areas are alot safer then others.

i live in yonkers that's in westchester and yes they do steal hondas...but if it's plain then you should be alright. if you have a garage then it's all good....never ever ever ever ever ever ever park in the street..did i say ever?....

Heh, okay, that's about what I thought. Do you mean public parking garage, or personal garage? A public garage probably isn't much safer than the street, right? Or do they actually try to keep the cars safe in there?

anything is better than the street..
stay off the street.
stay off the street.

The Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry are the top two stolen cars in America. From the years 93 and on. I have to agree by staying off the street. My aunt also had an Accord and was left on blocks with the "stock" rims stolen off of it. That was in Happauge. Also had a friend with a 94 Accord stolen in Port Jefferson cause he parked his car in the street!!

If you already have this opinion or attitude about NY, WHY MOVE HERE? You probably live in a remote location which doesn't attract any tourism, not even a small amount. They're the real cause of all the mess in the city in the first place. They don't respect anything when they pay us a visit, maybe partly our fault, because we are nice enough to make them feel at HOME.
As far as your inquiry, your car will be stolen if its meant to be, not because of your location. In fact car thieves, in my own opinion, actually prefer remote locations rather than urban, because less likely of being seen and getting caught.
I'm no car thief, but if I know who you are and where you're moving to, I'll jack your car just for your opening remark.:flipa:

Why come to this stinking city?, they even stole my uncle's crappy CRX just for a joyride, and if they don't steal it all at once they'll steal it piece by piece at night, or they'll sit on it while waiting for the bus, or they'll bump into it whyle they "parallel park" or they'll break the antenna just for the hell of it. Man, NY is full of sickos.

She used to be mine...trying my best to win her back. Do I have to compete with you too?
I can't exactly figure it out, but she always have a way of making my car less flashy when she's sitting inside...no matter what mods I add to it. I guess attractive women always intimidate, not only men, but also car thieves.
Works for me, less attention to my car, less likely to be stolen...preventive measure you have to take when you live in a big city like NY.:sun:

JUST TOW THE WHOLE CAR. LAST ONE WAS A JOKE BUT YOU UNDERSTAND WHERE I WAS GOING:smoka:

It makes sense to go some distance for a good vic. I know when that boy stole my new brand new GTPRO performer:mad: and then had the nerve to ride it in my face...:twak: Anyway, sorry for the flashback but teh point is there are thieves everywhere, some don't even know they are yet. No matter where you move if someone wants your car there gonna get, wether is out of your garage or just pulling you out at the light. So in closing just be careful.
