Windows!

Hi All: (00 LS V8)
I have an interesting problem that just started to occur. None of my windows except for the driver window will go down with it's own switch. I can however, control all of the windows with the master switch on the driver side. I checked and know that I don't have the windows locked, besides the passenger won't go down either. Is there a fuse I've missed? I've checked the window motor fuses and all look good. I'm wondering if there is some kind of relay fuse I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you absolutely sure the window lock switch is not the problem? Did you try switching the window lock to the other position and trying the windows? Actually, what did you do to verify that the window lock is not the issue?

Try rolling the windows down using the key in the driver's door lock or by pressing and holding the unlock button on the key fob. Do they all go down? Do they make any abnormal noises when you try to lower them?

There are multiple fuses for the power windows, and different modules (driver's door module, front electronic module, and rear electronic module) but none that would allow the windows to work from the master window switch but not the individual window switches that I can tell. The factory wiring diagram isn't very good about showing how the driver door module interfaces with the other modules though to control the windows. Based on the diagram, I have to assume it's through the SCP bus. The fuses are in the Auxiliary underhood junction box and are numbers F4.19, F4.20, F4.26, and F4.30. They are all 20-amp fuses.

Unfortunately I did try the lock switch and all common issues that might cause the problem. As for the fuses, I looked under the hood at the fuse block and none of the fuses you mentioned existed. Were you looking at 2000 LS? I looked on the passenger side floor compartment and there is a large bank of fuses, but still none of the numbers you mentioned matched. Any thoughts? As always, thanks for your help.

I was looking at the service manual for a 2002 LS. I expect they should be pretty similar, but they probably won't be numbered F4.19, etc. unless you pull out the owner's manual and map the fuses. It's probably just "19."

I'll take another look tonight. I do have access to a wiring diagram (although not factory) for the 2000 LS.

The non-OEM wiring diagram for the 2000 LS V8 shows fuses 419 and 426 as 30-A fuses for the power windows, and 419 and 430 as 20-A fuses also for the power windows. These 4 fuses are supposed to be in the battery junction box according to this diagram, which would put them in the trunk near the battery. The remainder of the diagram appears to match the Factory diagram for the 2002 model year.

Hey Rod:
Well interesting enough, a buddy of mine and I found some kind of reset fuse in the junction box under the hood. Pulled it, reinstalled it (same fuse) and the windows work. Don't know what to make of this one, but as always I do appreciate your help. Thanks!

Did you happen to note which fuse it was so you'll know for next time? Plus, if you wouldn't mind posting that information here, it may help others and someone may be able to trace it in the wiring diagram to see if that gives any clues as to what's happening.
